A letter to the change agents

Every time, every single time, you do anything like any of those, you are yourself directly, immediately, and irrevocably building objects that are instantly being stored in that real cultural storage bin, adding a few inches to the size of that tsunami racing in our direction now.

To the cultural change agents - keep filling up the culture storage bin!

Anyone who is actively pushing the boundaries for cultural change - you have one of the toughest challenges in business and society. It can continually feel like you are making no progress and might even wonder at times, what is even the point of doing all of this?

But I can guarantee you, there is an evolution happening.

“Cognitively, psychologically, and morally, moving on to a new stage is a massive feat. It requires courage to let go of old certainties and experiment with a new worldview. For a while, everything can seem uncertain and confused. It might be lonely, too, as sometimes in the process we can lose close relationships with friends and family who can no longer relate to us.”

― Frederic Laloux,

Every time you think of a cultural thought. Every time you conceive a cultural idea; every time your mind sparks a thought of a more beautiful, more truthful, more ethical world tomorrow; every time you read and study, or write of cultural notions; every time you even ask, "what can I do to bring this about, to speed this up, to bring this to life?

Every time you dream the dream of a world operating in harmony, a more inclusive tomorrow, the dream of a more balanced and connected earth, the dream of a culture that touches the heart in each and every being alive…

Every time you reach out for a future that is even just a little more whole than the one today; every time you imagine any human activity, from education to parenting to government to law - evolved into a more inclusive and connected essence; every time you look into the eyes of a young child and wish for them a future of greater love and compassion and care and concern…

Every time you make a choice that is in favor of the betterment of humankind and all living beings in their entirety; every time you see broken pieces and fractured shards and torn and tortured human beings brought together in a more unified and inclusive and caring embrace; and every time you yearn for a tomorrow even slightly more unified and inclusive and embracing than today…

“Seeing is not believing; believing is seeing! You see things, not as they are, but as you are.

― Eric Butterworth”

Every time, every single time, you do anything like any of those, you are yourself directly, immediately, and irrevocably building objects that are instantly being stored in that real cultural storage bin, adding a few inches to the size of that tsunami racing in our direction now.

And that is why, and I mean it, don’t stop, don’t give up.
